A dissertation is one where the questions are opened and the answers are written by the candidate himself, usually the hand. This type of evaluation is common in public examinations, vestibular, school and university tests. They are very different from test tests, which appear in vestibular, and have multiple choices of answers. Check out some tips for you to answer essay questions.
Dissertation questions can be small, medium or long. Some you can do in a few seconds; others need a lot of time and argument, as if they were essays.
How to start a writing of dissertation?
Some tactics help save time and avoid unnecessary note discounts. Know our following tips.
1. Answer the easiest items first
Once you get the test book, take a quick look at the questions and identify those that appear to be easier. Make a mark to start the test with them. Then identify the items that seem easier and read the statement.
See if there are issues that are worth more points. Prioritize them after answering all that is familiar to you.
2. Read the statement carefully
The interpretation of the text (s) in the statement is very important. It is worth remembering that images, cartoons, graphics and tables are also texts and deserve your attention. We have a free videotape for you to understand why and how these texts can help your answer.
The statement clarifies what you expect from you in each of the question items. It also tells you if you need to use the text information and / or prior knowledge. Sometimes we spend a lot of time remembering a subject related to an issue, but without necessity.
The main tip is to circle / underline the keywords in the statement so you can remember what is most important when you respond.
3. Write impersonally
Always write impersonally. The tip here is to go straight to the answer, to avoid being confused with the voice of your text. For example, if the question is “What are the consequences of the measures taken by the Donald Trump government for immigrants to the United States?”, Write “The consequences are a, b, and c.”
Avoid responding in the first person. If it is necessary to write long text and with developed argumentation, be careful. Never answer “[I] I believe …” but rather “It is believed that …”, “Some evidence shows that …”.
4. Give a complete answer
When writing down what the statement asks, also put an argument that justifies your answer. On a math test, write how you came up with the result. If it does not justify, some evaluations nullify its response even though it is correct; others deduct a portion of the note. Meet the edict of proof to be sure.
On a Human and Biological test, please enter your answer. When you respond completely, you tell the broker what you are responding to. It also indicates if the text belongs to the appropriate item of the question. If you write in the wrong space, there is a possibility for the broker to consider the answer, especially if it is a school evaluation.
5. Review the available space for the response
One of the easiest things to identify in a test book is the number of lines in each question. They indicate the size of the text.
Issues with many lines may need more time to be answered, so stay tuned for quick answers.
People who write in large letters should practice writing in a small space. If space is lacking, some teachers and brokers will accept you to write on another page (provided you indicate where the answer is), but it is best not to have it in public and college entrance exams.
In order not to exceed the boundary of the question, it is very important to organize what you write.
6. Organize logical reasoning
Plan your text before you start writing it. If the question is short and / or feel confident in the subject, do the mental planning if you prefer. For a long question, write important information that summarizes what needs to be included in the response. Write them in a draft or next to the keywords you circled in the statement.
When planning, organize your knowledge about the subject. If there are supporting texts, think where you will enter the most important data. Analyze whether the data you have chosen is the best argument to justify your answer.
To be sure you have not forgotten any information for a complete answer, please respect the order of the questions in question.
On a Mathematics and Physics test, state what variables and accounts you will be doing.
With an organized text, if the answer is partially correct, the broker may consider a portion of the hit.
If you do not know everything the question asks for, organize yourself to respond first to what you have knowledge of. If you have enough time, put the information that you have not mastered in the last sentence.
7. Keep an eye on time
Before you begin the assessment, know how much time you have at most to ask any questions. Calculate the time available for each of them.
Do not wrap up to answer if you have mastered the subject. Avoid writing more than necessary, that is, more than is asked in the question. When the theme is familiar, be careful not to get excited and waste time with the amount of text.
8. Always write with your pen
One of the ways to manage the time of your test is always to write the pen. Your text needs to be written to the pen in entrance exams and public examinations. So do not write in pencil with extra time to pass the answer to the pen. Organize your ideas, plan yourself and write directly to the pen.
If you do not give time to finish the test, the text written in ink will be considered, ensuring a little more note.
Some teachers allow you to answer pencils in school and university tests. However, it is not possible to question your note after the correction. After all, someone not honest could erase the text and replace it with a correct one. You can request a reassessment of the written test note to the pen if necessary.
Check if you have filled in all the items and if there are errors in Portuguese. Some errors in writing can leave your text without consistency, which is able to take points in your note, or even nullify the issue.
This means that the proofreader will probably not take grammar points if the assessment is of another subject. But it is necessary to watch out for (for example) not to exchange a “but” for “more”, or to forget some fundamental connective for the coherence of its phrase.
Also identify if you actually wrote down what the question asked for. A correct text, but that does not answer the question, will probably not add to your grade.
And to study for a dissertation?
Quizzes with open questions identify whether you really master a particular subject, so it is important to study with attention and dedication.
When you practice at home, do not be lazy and be honest with yourself. Write the answers in full. Only when you finish writing them, look for the official resolution.
The studies for a dissertation evaluation should not be very different from the preparation for a multiple choice evaluation.
